Hokuula

Hoku'ula sits on the lower slopes of Haleakala in Haliimaile, on the makai side of Haliimaile Road, close enough to walk to the Haliimaile General Store and near Haliimaile Distilling Co., two well-known upcountry landmarks. From this elevation the panoramic views stretch across the central valley to the ocean on one side and up toward Haleakala on the other, and the pace here is small-town paniolo country rather than resort Maui.

This is a master-planned neighborhood built out in one coordinated push rather than developed piecemeal over the years. Home sales began around 2021, through a lottery process for both the income-restricted workforce-housing units and the market-rate homes, with the plan calling for 196 single-family homes total across six four-bedroom floor plans ranging from 2,239 to 3,646 square feet, on fee-simple lots roughly 7,500 to 10,000 square feet. Some lots allow an ohana dwelling. The workforce-housing homes sold out within their lottery process; by mid-2026 only a handful of market-rate homes remain available, so buyers should expect a mostly built-out neighborhood rather than a from-scratch construction project. The neighborhood is not gated, and a community association manages shared elements with a modest monthly HOA fee. For buyers who want a newer home in an established upcountry town with walkable local businesses, Hoku'ula is worth a look, though inventory is thin at this stage.
