Maalaea is a small harbor town tucked between Kihei and West Maui, built around the Maui Ocean Center aquarium and a working boat harbor that sends out whale-watching and snorkel tours most of the year. Wind is a defining feature here. Maalaea sees near-constant breeze that draws windsurfers and kitesurfers, giving it a different feel from the calmer beaches in Kihei.

Condo inventory in Maalaea is small and tightly clustered, concentrated mostly along Hauoli Street, with far fewer buildings than you'll find in Kihei or Wailea. Most units are oceanfront or close to it, and prices generally run lower than the bigger resort areas nearby.
