Lahaina
Why we love Lahaina This port town is rich in heritage and culture. Once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii, Lahaina town is home to historic Front Street, long known for some of the best seaside dining and shopping on Maui. The town is still rebuilding after the August 2023 wildfire, and that work is slowly bringing back the spirit that made Front Street a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Fishermen, boaters and surfers still share the waters off this West side hub, and Lahaina Harbor remains active with snorkel trips, sunset sails and winter whale watching. With easy access to every water activity, living in Lahaina has some serious perks. Beaches and mango trees border the main roads through town where rain is much rarer than just a few miles further West. Another reason we love Lahaina? Magical sunsets and the abundance of whales that frolic just off shore each winter.
